2011 'IF THE SHOE FITS' CONFERENCE

In 2011, Bespoke Shoemaker Philip Taylor joined together with the team at Leeds University to host the  IF THE SHOE FITS conference, a direct national response to the NHS Hutton Report of 2009. This report sparked major structural reviews and efficiency changes across public services, including how the NHS managed complex orthotic and footwear provisions. 

 

The conference drew together industry specialists and clinicians, and proposed further  improvements to the highly criticized NHS supply chain and contracting system. But little changed for the patients, the users of the service, even after a further review of thw Hutton Report in 2015. We realised that the people who were responsible for purchasing, commissioning and contracting were not present at the conference.

THE PROPOSED 'WALK IN MY SHOES' 2027 CONFERENCE

Now, with organisations such as The British Polio Fellowship supporting the campaign, and with the weight of public discontent , we hope to pursuade the government and NHS to participate in much need conversation.
